AlloyUSA Wheel Spacers

11/30/2018

Without question one of the most popular questions I get on forums, social media, in-person, etc. is regarding the wheel spacer installation on the 2180miles Trailhawk. I installed them in the summer of 2017 while running the factory Jeep Trailhawk wheels and tires, and have continued running them with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires that were installed in July of 2018 thanks to a partnership with Falken.

While I can't comment on whether you can get away without using wheel spacers on your specific vehicle with your specific tire set-up, I just wanted to provide links for how to go about piecing together the kit I did! Your mileage may vary, and the availability of a WK2 specific wheel spacer kit may someday exist, but for now these are the parts required to use a United States made AlloyUSA spacers.

DO NOT SKIMP OUT ON WHEEL SPACERS - THEY CAN KILL YOU. I have run AlloyUSA products on both my Wrangler and now Trailhawk for a combined decade between the two. I highly suggest them for both their products and customer support.

Comment below with your questions, issues, or success stories!

UTILIZED PARTS LIST:

1. AlloyUSA Wheel Spacers          2. Open Ended Lug Nuts*

3. Acorn Lug Nuts for Wheel Spacers          4. Lug Wrench Adapter (fits new Lugs to OEM Lug Wrench)

*Amazon has been changing these links so double check before you buy - you need 14 x 1.5" open ended lug nuts

Out of curiosity, why did you not use the stock lugs? Also, do you need the adapter in order to tighten the lugs on the spacers?

Hey Rob,

Couldn't use stock lugs because the AlloyUSA kit was made for a JK model Wrangler hub which has a different thread pattern than the WK2 hubs. Because of this I needed two new sets of lugs (the narrow kind and the acorn kind) to affix the Alloy spacers.

To your second question, I needed the adapter to be able to use my factory lug wrench with the new lug size. Technically you could carry a multi-size lug wrench, or simply replace it, but I wanted the redundancy to use the factory lug wrench (which required the adapter).

Hopefully that answers your questions clearly enough!

I see that you went with 1.5 inch spacers, would 2 inch work? Also, do you mind posting a picture down the side of your jeep to show the offset? Asking only because I am looking for that aggressive style look as well on my Jeep.
Thanks

Rebel Offroad told me i would need 2" spacers to not shave/cut down the stock lugs.

Interesting! As you can see in the photos above, 1.5" works just fine. I've been running this set up for over 4 years now without issue, just an occasional retorque at wheel rotations.

What are the benefits of using the spacers? Is it more for an aggressive look or does it serve a purpose.

Hey Stephen,

I'm sure 2" would work, but I'd be *VERY* cautious/hesitant of putting that kind of exertion on the hubs. I'm away from the Jeep at the moment but I'll see if I can find anything in the photo database that would point out the offset!

Trying to run this same setup as I also have a WK2 Trailhawk. Everywhere I have looked looks as though JK spacers will not fit the WK2. Is this not the case? If not, do you know if the new JL spacers will work?
Thanks in advance.

Do the spacers affect your alignment at all? Did you have to have any adjustments made? Do these affect the warranty?

Thanks for the details! What did you do to make sure that the widened wheel based wouldn't damage the suspension?

Because of the size difference in the lugs will the lug nuts be too small for the rim and possibly cause a problem

I tried the Bora 1.5 and same size Falken Tires on my stock Trailhawk rims and they rub on the front fenders only when flexing and turning. I see it more on the passenger side. thinking maybe a 1.25 size might help?

Do you have any issues with the tires kicking up debris, pebbles, etc on the trails and scarring up your paint on the sides? Have you done any mods (PPF, etc.) after adding the spacers to help with the impact from the new tire poke? Trying to figure out a good solution for this myself and appreciate any thoughts you may have
